On South Beach stage one, you pretty much can't eat any carbs. So I've been eating eggs for breakfast every morning. Steve has been making me ham and cheese omelets, and they are so good. This morning I had my first attempt making one myself, and I actually flipped the thing! Those of you who know about my cooking (dis)abilities know what a big accomplishment this is. I've enjoyed eating eggs for breakfast because they taste great and they really do stick with me better than cereal.
For the first 3 days on Stage 1, I have had headaches throughout the day. Nothing horrible, but just a dull headache that I'm sure had something to do with the sugar detox my body is going through. But each day it gets better and better, and today so far I haven't had one at all. Usually if I start getting a headache it will be about time for me to eat, so I think my body is just letting me know that it's time for some more food! I haven't really felt hungry at all, which is great! There have been times that I have been tempted to cheat, like when I open up the package of my mother-in-law's fudge to give Nathan a piece and the smell of cocoa and sugar wafts out... but I haven't. I really want to stick to it these 2 weeks and see what the scale says at the end of Phase 1.
Exercise has been tough to get into. It's so cold outside! But I did take Nathan to the church gym yesterday, and I walked (while he ran laps around me!) for about 25 minutes. Even at that, one of my legs was sore by the time I was done. I'm just realizing that I need to start slow and build up my strength and endurance. But I figure something is better than nothing!
Today is Day 4. Here's to another great day!
